COUNTERTOP COUNT DOWN!

My countertops are coming in two days and I’m starting to get really excited now!  I’ve waited almost five years for this day and it’s almost here.  It seems kind of silly to be this excited over countertops, but these are the things that make me giddy these days.  I can’t wait!  I’ve already started prepping the kitchen.  I removed the 4 inch laminate backsplash last week…

It was pretty easy to remove.  I just cut the caulk with a box cutter, stuck my mini crow bar in between the backsplash and the wall, and yanked it off.  I also removed the two small sections of countertops that flank the doorway. Since the new countertops aren’t as thick as the old ones I knew I’d have to paint the sides of the cabinets that the countertops were attached to.  The white paint stopped about an inch and a half from the bottom, so I just brought the white all the way down…

A few weeks ago I also ordered a new faucet from Home Depot…

Boy she’s a beauty, ain’t she?!

Can’t wait to replace this leaky hunk of junk and this horribly shallow sink.

And last but not least, we have two new stools on the way.  The ones we have are really wobbly.  No matter how many times we tighten them, they go right back to wobbling.  So I ordered these last night from Crate and Barrel.

And that pretty much sums up where we are with our kitchen.  I’m looking forward to all of that newness…countertops, stools, faucet, oh my! I can’t wait!!!

10 DIY PROJECTS I CAN’T WAIT TO TRY!

If you follow me on Pinterest you know that I’m always pinning cool DIY projects.  Some I fully intend to try out someday, and some I just like to marvel at and drool over.  Today I thought I’d share a few of my latest DIY pins, all of which I plan to tackle as soon as I get my to do list under control. That list seems to be growing at epic speeds.  As soon as I finish one thing, another thing gets tacked onto the list.  I guess I’ve got no one to blame but myself.  There’s just so much that I want to do, and try, and make.  If only there were more hours in a day.

Someday I’m gonna tackle each and every one of these DIY projects, but today is not that day.  So for now I guess I’ll just ooo and ahh at them.

BOOB LIGHT DOWN!

Work on my entryway is still in progress.  I showed you my painted door, my painted rug, and today I’m showing you my painted ceiling.  It’s probably not very exciting for you, but I’m tap dancing over here.  I love my bright white ceiling.  It was a light khaki color before, which I also loved for a while, but now it’s all about white…one of my new favorite colors (if that’s what you want to call it).

I also had my hubby remove our old boob light that was hanging (see it here).  As predicted, he wasn’t thrilled about it.  Not because he didn’t want to take the light down, but because he later found out that it wasn’t coming back :( Sorry boob light.  Things are changing around here.

I want something fresh and white…like a vintage school house light, and I kinda found one the other day as I was strolling through the aisles of Home Depot with my friend Kellie.

No, its not vintage, but it definitely has that school house feel.  I think it’ll look great and I can’t wait ’til the hubs gets home today.  He doesn’t know it yet, but he’s gonna put this baby up for me tonight.  Can’t wait to see it!  I’ll keep you posted.
